Tubular Bells III
1998 This album is a part of a big serial that began in 1973 with Tubular Bell and continue with 3 others albums so far (Tubular Bells II in 1996, Tubular Bells III in 1998 and The Millenium Bell in 1999). Although Tubular Bells is an album now considered as a classic, we have to say we were really impressed by what Mike Oldfield did with the third volume. He simply reviewed his famous theme thanks to modern rhythms, including some dance beats. But he also collaborated with a great female voice; Amar. You could find more information about this Pakistanian girl by searching Talvin Singh in this database. Tubular Bells III is a really powerful album, thanks to its strong rhythms and to its strong vocals. You enter it like a trance, coming back to reality not before the end.

Songs of Distant Earth
1996 This is probably the strangest album Mike Oldfield ever released. And this is almost the best album he ever released, from a New Age point of view. You could ask anyone who likes New Age music; this album is simply perfect. So why is this album strange? Because if you didnít say this album is by Mike Oldfield, no one could find out this. Mike Oldfield used samples here he never used before but also he never has used since! As if he made this album and forgot about the way he did it. This is strange, isnít this? But this album definitively has to be in all New Age lovers discotheque. It is really a perfect album.
